Position Summary: The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the financial health of FD Community Federal Credit Union. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to our mission of serving our members.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
    • Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to management.

2. General Ledger Management and Payroll:

    • Reconcile cash accounts on a daily basis.
    • Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all entries.
    • Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
    • Maintain Fixed Assets and Prepaids
    • Process Weekly payroll and 401K processing

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.

4. Compliance and Audit:

    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Prepare for external audits and liaise with auditors to provide necessary documentation.
    • Assist with NCUA Quarterly Call Report
    • Annual Tax Filings

5. Team Leadership:

    • Mentor and support junior accounting staff in their professional development.
    • Collaborate with other departments to enhance financial processes and reporting.

6. Special Projects:

    • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, including system upgrades and process improvements.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory requirements specific to credit unions.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with FiServ Portico & Wisdom Accounting is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
